Privacy policy

This is a short account of what this service keeps. The web site, https://ymessenger.app/, may have more.

What we keep

• Your account: your Yahoo! ID, your name if you gave it, and your password, which is stored only as a salted hash.
• What Messenger needs to work: your contact list, groups, Address Book, ignore list and stealth settings, your status message and display picture or avatar.
• Messages sent while a friend is offline, until they are delivered.
• Your conversation history, for a limited time, so that you can read it again. Messenger > Preferences > Conversation History turns it off and deletes what is kept.
• Spam reports, with the last messages of the person reported, for up to 180 days, while we check them.
• Your computer's internet address, in the server's logs and to limit abuse.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share any of it. Files, webcam pictures and calls pass through the server, which doesn't keep them.
